The Sleigh Ride

Tuesday spawned a full day of snow
Unrestrained and furious, it persistently fell
Afternoon warily hid, not wanting to know

Behind the towering drifts, a child played
Genderlessly bundled in winter wear
Hauling snow without care, clearly unafraid

Intension apparent with spade in hand
A mastered art of smooth and polished swell
The sled waited patiently without demand

A streetlight graced the slope and readied two
The ascent made to the peak without care
With a slow turn of head to capture the view

Stamping down the windblown snow
Then sled seated and down they go
